Situated in a centrally located private terrace of tall, elegant Victorian Houses in a preservation area with private parking, Glenaldor House is only 10 minutes walk from the town centre and a few minutes walk from the railway station. There is good food available in restaurants nearby.



Dumfries is an ideal centre for short breaks, for golf, shooting and fishing, walking, cycling or horse riding or even just shopping and sightseeing. With such a cultural heritage, being the place where our National Bard, Robert Burns, lived, loved and died. His legacy is historical sites, house, museums, heritage centre, mausoleum and famously, the Globe Inn. Famously too, J.M. Barrie, who wrote Peter Pan etc, lived in the house next door to our Guest House whilst he attended Dumfries Academy.
Visit the cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh, only 80 miles away, as is Stranraer and the Ireland ferries. Carlisle, Gretna, Annan, Lockerbie and Moffat are a mere 30-45 minutes drive, as is Galloway and its scenic beauty.

We are open all year round except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
